Collection and Recycling Arrangements in the United Kingdom

Under the UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, for old equipment that you have bought before August 2005 which is being replaced on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis by the purchase of new Dedicated Micros equipment, Dedicated Micros is required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of the old equipment. The old equipment that your new purchase from Dedicated Micros replaces is referred to as Historic WEEE.

Under the UK WEEE Regulations, Dedicated Micros is also required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of any new electrical and electronic equipment that you buy from Dedicated Micros after August 2005, when that new equipment eventually becomes waste. This is referred to as New WEEE.

Dedicated Micros is required to provide these arrangements starting from 1 July 2007.

The Regulations also require all producers to join an approved Producer Compliance Scheme. Dedicated Micros has joined the compliance scheme DHL WEEE Compliance. DHL WEEE Compliance will:

Register Dedicated Micros with the Environment Agency for the first compliance period before the deadline of 31st March 2007;
Report to the Environment Agency the amounts and types of EEE put on the UK market by Dedicated Micros;
Declare compliance to the Environment Agency against its obligations for the collection, treatment, recycling and environmentally sound disposal of WEEE that arise from Dedicated Micros sales of EEE, including compliance with the recovery and recycling targets
Provide evidence notes from approved treatment facilities to the Environment Agency in support of these declarations
