THOMAS ERDOS
Undoubtedly, UK-based Brazilian Thomas Erdos has an impressive motorsport pedigree. Throughout his career he has established a reputation as someone who is able to post some of the fastest times around - whatever car he drives – with no less than 23 lap records to his credit. Erdos took part in the 2004 FIA GT Championship in a S7-R Saleen, helping his team to sixth place in the overall standings.

Perhaps Erdos’ greatest achievement so far, was taking the 2002 British GT Championship, co-driving with Ian McKellar Jnr, the pair delivering an impressive eight wins and three second places on route to victory.
By setting the most qualifying poles and fastest race laps, Erdos also secured the British GT ‘Top Gun’ Trophy for the most successful individual driver of the series – a pole position at Donington contributing to the award.

Other highlights of the Brazilian’s career include his Daytona 24 Hours debut – also in 2002 – when driving the Saleen S7-R he produced the fastest lap in the car’s class. In the 1999 British GT Championship, Erdos was on the podium in every race that he finished and in pre-qualifying for the 1999 Le Mans 24 Hour, he set the fastest time for any non-factory entrant in the GTS class.

Erdos first came to prominence in 1990 when he won his first major motorsport title - the British Formula Renault Championship - with two months to spare. The world class Brazilian has been making a positive impact ever since.

MIKE NEWTON
Briton Mike Newton is a long-term racing enthusiast, highly successful CEO of AD Holdings PLC and founder of Dedicated Micros, the worldwide security equipment manufacturer. He joined Thomas Erdos in the No7 Saleen S7-R which competed in the 2003 FIA GT Championship, with two finishes in the top four, and is teaming-up once again with Erdos in the 2004 Championship, this time with RML (Ray Mallock Ltd).

Newton’s two major passions are flying and motor racing; the former is reflected in the fleet of private business jets he operates through AD Aviation – another AD Holdings company - and the latter through his continued participation in motor racing.

His interest in racing is a longstanding one. Newton started out back in 1985 in locally based Formula Ford 1600 Championships. From 1995 to 1997, he finished in the top four – the highest being second- in The Champion of Oulton Formula Ford 1600 series.

Other key landmarks in his racing career to date include: victory in the 2002 Daytona Grand-Am finale (GTS class) in a Saleen S7-R, driving his Ford Falcon EL to class victory in the 2001 Nurburgring 6 Hours and sixth overall in the 500km Super Touring feature race at Bathurst in 1999. Newton also achieved a highly credible sixth in the GTS class on his debut at last year’s Le Mans 24 Hour race. He also completed the Spa 24 Hours and Bathurst 24 Hours in 2003, and at this year’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, he scored a strong fourth in the Daytona Prototype class.
